I know it is happening everywhere but how much money really Felpro can save making theses small items in JUNkCHINA? I think is most a test, about how much junk they can put in a set until the buyers stop buying it.

Our iPhones are made in China, too. It's the most economically powerful nation on Earth. I doubt a valve stem seal will give your car cooties.

Why do you assume that because it's made in China that it's automatically junk ? Fel-pro has quality control standards and likely makes sure that these parts are up to par, or they wouldn't sell them under their name.

Gotta agree with the above; it's just the (actually-) FAKE Chinese/Asian parts, that PRETEND to be domestically
produced, which are of major concern to us.

So, a company that has the fortitude/honesty to admit to foreign manufacture might be trusted, over another part
which is bootlegged and bears a fake "Made in USA" label.

About all that we can do, today, is to look for a well respected manufacturer's logo on a part/box, and to
HOPE for the 'best', in its design and construction.

Which is 'better': a NOS 50+ y.o. part, or a new re-pop of that part? [Answer: "It Depends upon the subject
part(s), at hand."]

E.G.: I wouldn't necessarily trust a NOS 50 y.o. brake master cylinder, or wheel cylinder, from any
OEM manufacturer (without a close inspection of it) , over a re-popped item.

I've mentioned several times, in threads concerning probably-surely Chinese made re-popped
brake drums (which are being sold on the EvilPay, currently)....that those brake drums....which have been
installed on my car, for several years, now....have performed excellently and without any apparent construction defects on them.

So, I am VERY happy that these well-made new brake drums are being sold...by SOMEBODY!

Guys, motorcycles specially the small ones are very prone to failure if the parts are not good, the difference of parts made in china or Japan could resulting of years of service. I played for years with them, I know first hand what the Communist can do

Been dealing with Chinese junk pretty much all my life, now on automotive applications my car CV joint was replaced for a unit made in China, because the original (japan) cost more than the car. The piece of Junk boot only lasted 4 moths and was age cracked. I just don't trust the quality and nobody does.

My 392 Felpro set made in had the same seals made in Mexico, so no complains there. Portugal, I have no idea of what they can do, so I cant judge them.

The valve seals are a particular important part of the sealing department inside of the engine, we all know the pain in the %^$ to change them, so why trust the Chinese? just for a few dollars? I don't get it.

In the other hand, I wouldn't mind to use parts not important or easily replaceable like Neil said, internal engine components...no so much.

I know how much quality a factory worker can produce for a plate of rice as a monthly payment.

But the big surprise of all, is my fellow FL member willing to accept this.... Specially because this kind of support is driving a communist economy to new levels which also resulted in the export of thousand of crushed FL cars for raw material overseas.

Go buy a Windows or an Android.

Although the Windows Phones are way better now(no crashing or lagging like Android).

Yup, it would be real nice to go back about 30-40 years and find all kinds of domestic production...but somewhere along the line a bunch of folks (perhaps, including you?) decided that they needed to save a couple of bucks and bought 'xxxx'. The manufacturers noticed that more people were buying product on the price-point, not so much on the perceived quality. This is also about the time that many of you also bought that cute little import sedan for the wife so that you did not have to wrench on it. The imports simply had better quality control than the big-3. Doubling up on fuel mileage didn't hurt either. The balance of trade was now moving quickly in the wrong direction.
Now, add in the effects of union labour and the costs they have added to any product and the results of out-sourcing are plain to see.

I will continue to be mindful of anything labeled 'Made in China', and decide how that particular item will affect me. I will not buy food labeled as such, but not so concerned about the latest t-shirt. Auto parts fall in the middle and there are many instances where there is simply no choice. I intentionally did not look on the Moog and Federal Mogul boxes two days ago when I replaced the u-joints and carrier bearing on my truck. d500neil

Since the u-joints were in need of replacement and the rubber isolator in the carrier was shot I installed the new pieces....and I still haven't
looked at the boxes to check origin. At this point I am not sure that I want to know. I got about 100K out of the last set so I'll cross my fingers that
these last until I replace the truck. hemidenis
